With the end of voting for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections on Friday evening, the fate of many political stalwarts was sealed in EVMs. This phase includes 102 seats from 21 states and union territories, out of which the number of VVIP seats is very large. With the completion of this phase of voting, the fate of nine Union Ministers, two former Chief Ministers and one former Governor of the country was sealed in the EVMs.
Among the VVIP seats on which everyone’s eyes are fixed in this phase, UP’s Kairana, Muzaffarnagar, Moradabad, Rampur, Pilibhit along with West Bengal’s Cooch Behar, Bihar’s Gaya and Jamui, Maharashtra’s Nagpur, Madhya Pradesh’s Sidhi, Jabalpur, Mandla. , Chhindwara, Dibrugarh and Jorhat of Assam, Bastar of Chhattisgarh, Bikaner, Churu, Jaipur Rural, Nagaur seat of Rajasthan, Tripura West seat of Tripura, Chennai South of Tamil Nadu, Sriperumbudur, Kanchipuram, Salem, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Sivagangai, Uttarakhand. Along with Garhwal and Haridwar, Tura seat of Meghalaya is included.
In this phase of elections, the credibility of the VVIP leaders on these seats is at stake. It includes leaders of both the NDA and the Congress-led ‘India’ alliance. These include eight Union Ministers of the Modi government, two former Chief Ministers and a former Governor, whose fate was decided by the voters on Friday and their fate was captured in the EVMs.
