Superintendent of Police Abraham T Sangma said that six people were arrested on Wednesday within hours of the video going viral. He said that all these people are close relatives of the woman. He said, ‘Two people were arrested by the police from the village and the rest surrendered. They have been brought to the district headquarters town.’ Officials said that the State Women’s Commission has also taken suo motu cognizance of the incident and has sent a team to meet the victim.
