Peshawar: A massive road accident has occurred in north-west Pakistan. 20 people died in this. While dozens of people are injured. The incident took place on Friday, when a passenger bus slipped from a hilly road and fell into a deep gorge. During this period at least 20 people died and 21 others were injured. Pakistani officials gave this information. The incident took place around 5.30 pm on the Karakoram Highway in Diamer district of the Gilgit-Baltistan region, a police official said.
The bus which met with the accident was going from Rawalpindi to Hunza. The driver lost control of the bus, causing the vehicle to overturn and fall on the banks of the Indus river, the official said. The official said that there were 43 passengers in the bus at the time of the incident. He said that the injured have been taken to Chilas Hospital. The official said the rescue operation has been completed with the help of army helicopters and the bodies of the dead and injured have been taken to hospital. The source said the death toll was likely to rise as many of the injured were in critical condition.
Gilgit-Baltistan CM orders proper treatment of the injured
Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan expressed grief over the incident and directed the administration to provide immediate medical aid to the injured. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed grief over the deaths and expressed his condolences to the bereaved families. He directed the officials to provide all possible medical treatment to the injured. Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi also expressed condolences on the incident and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. (Language)
