New Delhi. Nine girls who were victims of acid attack have filed an application in the Supreme Court requesting for an order to include a special process in digital KYC i.e. customer identification or verification for hundreds of victims like them. These victims have filed their petition in the Supreme Court through senior advocate Siddharth Luthra, advocates Anmol Kheta and Nitin Saluja L. In this, he has cited the situation of permanent loss of fingers, pupils of eyes and other bio-metric identification after acid attack.
Quoting these acid attack victims, he said that because of them, one has to face a lot of problems in situations like opening a bank account, getting an Aadhar card made, getting property registered or updated, buying a mobile SIM card etc. In the process of KYC, digital detailing of pupils and taking blinks, fingerprints etc. to prove that they are alive is sometimes impossible for acid attack victims.
Acid attack victims said that therefore the Supreme Court should issue an order to the Central Government that in view of their difficulties and helplessness, an inclusive and alternative process of digital KYC should be adopted. For this, issue guidelines for banks and all other concerned bodies and authorities.
