New Delhi. After the big victory of the Aam Aadmi Party in the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections, now the exercise is going on for the election of the mayor. The meeting was adjourned amidst ruckus in the first and second meeting, now again the election of mayor is to be held in the meeting. On the other hand, the issue of mayor election in Delhi has now reached the threshold of the Supreme Court. According to information, Aam Aadmi Party’s mayoral candidate Shelly Oberoi has filed a petition in this regard in the country’s biggest court. It is being told in some media reports that Shelly Oberoi, through her petition in the country’s highest court, has raised the demand that the mayor’s election should be held in Delhi in a time-bound manner. Such information is also coming out that the court can hear this petition tomorrow i.e. on Friday.
Let us tell you that the election of Mayor in Delhi has been postponed twice. The Aam Aadmi Party blames the BJP for the mayor’s election not being held, while the same Bharatiya Janata Party alleges that you are running away from the mayor’s election. The Aam Aadmi Party won 134 seats in the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections. Whereas BJP had won in 104 wards. In this way, the Aam Aadmi Party had ousted the BJP, which had been ruling the Municipal Corporation of Delhi for 15 years. Shelly Oberoi from the Aam Aadmi Party and Rekha Gupta from the BJP are in the fray for the post of Mayor. Also tell that 250 councilors of Delhi, 7 Lok Sabha and 3 Rajya Sabha MPs and 14 MLAs nominated by the assembly will vote in the mayor’s election.
It is worth noting that the elections for the mayor and deputy mayor of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi were expected to be held on January 6. There was a lot of uproar in the first meeting of the MCD House. The election of mayor and deputy mayor could not be held due to uproar and noise between BJP corporators and AAP corporators. The chairs were also moved in this meeting. After this, the second meeting of the MCD House was called on 24 January. It was believed that after the swearing in of the councillors, the election for the Mayor and Deputy Mayor and 6 members of the Standing Committee would be completed. But once again there was an uproar inside the House. When the presiding officer Satya Sharma first administered the oath to the councilors nominated by the LG, the councilors of the Aam Aadmi Party continued to protest there. Many councilors took oath amidst the noise, but the election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor could not be conducted even on this day.
