New Delhi. After bringing the Agneepath scheme for the three wings of the army, now the Modi government can take a big step for the army, navy and air force. There is a proposal in front of the Modi government in this regard from 2020. If this plan is implemented, then there can be a radical change in the army. So let us tell you which proposal has come before the Modi government regarding the army. This proposal is about the retirement age of officers. The proposal is to increase the retirement age of officers. After the proposal is cleared by the Modi government, the Colonel and its equivalent rank officers will retire in 57 years. At the same time, Brigadier and equivalent rank will retire at 58 years, Major General and equivalent rank officers will retire at 59 years. Whereas, the retirement age of JCOs i.e. Junior Commissioned Officers will be 57 years.
Under this proposal, the retirement age of lieutenant general and general i.e. Chief of Army Staff is not to be changed. That is, the officers of this rank will retire at the age of 60 years. Apart from this, the pension of officers and jawans is also to be fixed afresh under the proposal. 50 percent pension will be given to the officers and jawans retiring after 20 to 25 years of service. At the same time, 60 percent will be given to those who have 26 to 30 years of service, 75 percent to 31 to 35 years of service and those who have more than 35 years of service will be given full pension.
This proposal has been sent to the DMA i.e. Department of Military Affairs. It is believed that soon these proposals can also be stamped by the Modi government soon. This proposal was given by CDS General Bipin Rawat. General Rawat was killed in a helicopter crash. At present, the focus of the government is on making avenues for taking Agniveers into the army, giving them jobs again on retirement. For this, the government has also announced to give many exemptions and to provide opportunities to the Agniveers for further studies.
