Country Every fourth Gen-Z youth is inclined towards new-age jobs like Artificial Intelligence (AI), cyber security and content curation, while 43 per cent of the youth are also ready to sacrifice work-life balance to succeed in their career. This conclusion has been drawn in a study. Gen-Z generally means people born between the years 1995 and 2010. The ‘Quest Report 2024’ points out the trends of Gen-Z on dreams, career and aspirations.
Low inclination towards entrepreneurship
The report found that only 9 per cent of respondents want to pursue entrepreneurship as they value stability and security between work and life. According to the study conducted by smartphone brand IQ in collaboration with CyberMedia Research, one in four Indian respondents is more inclined towards new-age verticals like content curation, data analysis, AI and cybersecurity. The report says that 43 per cent of respondents in India and 46 per cent globally are even willing to sacrifice work-life balance to succeed in their careers.
Survey conducted among 6,700 youth
It also says that about 62 percent of Indian youth can give up their hobbies and other interests to achieve their dreams. The report says that the debate over the 14-hour working day and 70-hour working week has promoted discussion on the balance between work and personal life among Gen Z. This survey has been conducted among 6,700 youth aged 20-24 years from seven countries including America, Britain, Malaysia, Brazil and India. 19 percent of Indians surveyed want to see career advancement in big companies, while 84 percent of Indian youth consider their jobs to be in line with their goals. According to the report, twice as many women as men feel that the difference between men and women affects their dreams.
