Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Choudhary on Thursday said the Indian Air Force should be ready for operations at short notice at all times given the current geopolitical situation. Addressing a seminar, he said that some operation may have to be carried out and we are short of time.
In his address, he only mentioned the geopolitical situation, did not elaborate. Although the PTI report says that he was talking about the ongoing war in Ukraine. The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has now entered its third month. The Air Chief Marshal had mentioned the serious challenges arising out of this.
Earlier also, Choudhary had said that there are reports that hypersonic weapons will be used in Ukraine war and the Indian Air Force is also planning to have such weapons in its stock. About two weeks ago, he had said that high-speed hypersonic missiles are difficult to intercept, so the Indian Air Force should be prepared to deal with it.
He said that if a war-like situation arises, logistic support will be the biggest challenge as the reserves of the forces are spread over a large area. The Air Chief said that the Army should be prepared for any war that starts immediately and then for the long-lasting tension like the way it is going on in eastern Ladakh.
