Airbus Helicopters Airbus Helicopters said on Tuesday that it is working with Tata Group to identify a location to set up a final assembly line (FAL) for helicopter production in India. Sunny Guglani, India and South Asia head of Airbus Helicopters, a unit of aircraft manufacturer Airbus, gave this information on the occasion of the launch of its H145 helicopter here. The company has launched the H145 helicopter in collaboration with coastal and marine helicopter service provider Heligo Charters.
Had a partnership with Tata Group
Airbus’ helicopter manufacturing division had said in January this year that it would partner with Tata Group to set up a helicopter final assembly line in India to boost indigenous manufacturing activities. The location of this unit was to be decided jointly by Airbus and Tata Group. “We are working with Tata Group to determine the location and plan how the factory will be set up,” Guglani told reporters.
Production will increase after 2026
He said that in 2026, three helicopters are expected to be manufactured from this unit and after that the production will increase. Tata Advanced Systems Limited, a subsidiary of the Tata Group, had talked about setting up a production unit in collaboration with Airbus Helicopters under a partnership announced in January. This will be the second assembly line of Airbus to be built in India after the manufacturing facility of C-295 military aircraft in Gujarat.
