Indian private telecom companies are once again ready to shock mobile users. Reliance Jio, Vodafone Idea and Airtel may increase the prices of their prepaid plans till Diwali 2022. A new report has revealed this information. Prepaid tariffs could be costlier by 10-12 per cent after the new price hike. Let us inform that earlier these three big telecom companies of the country had increased the tariff prices in November 2021 as well.
ET Telecom first made this report public. Mayuresh Joshi, head of equity research at the Indian unit of US equity research firm William O’ Neil & Co. According to this, telecom companies will increase the tariff by 10-12 percent. This will increase the ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) of Airtel, Jio and Vodafone Idea by up to Rs 200, Rs 185 and Rs 135.
According to the report, the telecom company’s revenue is being affected due to cheap tariffs for Vi’s 2G customers. Therefore, the company’s strategy should be to not only increase the new customers but also upgrade the old customers to 4G services.
Airtel, Jio, Vi tariff plans to become costlier by 20-25 percent in 2021
In November 2021, Airtel and Vodafone Idea announced that telecom companies would increase their prepaid tariff plans by 20-25 percent. After this Reliance Jio also took a similar step. After this decision, the price of popular cheap plans like Rs 79 has gone up to Rs 99. Airtel’s Rs 698 plan used to get 2 GB data every day and its validity was 84 days. But after the hike, the price of this plan increased to Rs 839.
At the same time, in data booster plans like Rs 48, Rs 98 and Rs 251, the company used to offer 3 GB, 12 GB and 50 GB data earlier. Their price also increased to Rs 58, Rs 118 and Rs 301. Airtel had said at the time of the price hike that the higher ARPU would help the telecom company “get the required investment for network and spectrum”. Along with this, it will also be helpful in 5G services rollout.
At the same time, Reliance Jio also made its prepaid plans expensive and the new rates came into effect from December 1, 2021. But if you compare with Airtel and Vodafone Idea, then the company still offers cheap popular plans.
