United Nations: The United States has asked Iran to stop supplying large amounts of weapons to Yemen’s Houthi rebels, which helps the fighters attack ships in the Red Sea and elsewhere. Let us tell you that Yemen’s Houthis have continued to target ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden against Israel’s attack on Gaza. So far, dozens of ships have been targeted by Yemen’s Houthis with missile and drone attacks.
US Deputy Ambassador Robert Wood told the UN Security Council that if the body wants to make progress on ending the civil war in Yemen, a collective effort “must stop Iran from playing a destabilizing role and insist that it Stop supporting the Houthi rebels.” He said there is extensive evidence that Iran is providing the Houthis with advanced weapons, including ballistic and cruise missiles, in violation of UN sanctions.
Houthis say they will continue pressure on Israel
Wood said, “underscoring the Council’s concern about ongoing violations of the arms embargo, we must do more to strengthen the system and prosecute violators.” Their attacks on shipping in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden are aimed at pressuring Israel to end the war in Gaza. More than 35,000 Palestinians have lost their lives in the ongoing war in Gaza. (AP)
