Corona (Covid-19) virus cases have started increasing once again across the country, in view of which the state governments are implementing new rules for the prevention of infection in their states. Meanwhile, the Delhi government has decided to postpone the driving license test keeping in mind the corona infection.
An order issued by the Delhi government said that the Delhi Transport Department has taken several steps, such as suspension of driving license tests and deployment of nodal officers, amid rising Covid-19 infections. In the order issued by Joint Commissioner Navendra Kumar Singh, it has been said that in view of Tuesday’s order of DDMA, permanent and learning driving license skill test, new online appointment etc. are being postponed.

All existing appointments will now be rescheduled and the applicants concerned will be informed through SMS. Delhi’s Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot has announced this through Twitter. He said in his post that, “Keeping in view the rising corona cases and recent DDMA guidelines, all appointments for DL and LL tests (new and existing) in all RTOs have been suspended with effect from yesterday (6.1.22). Further, he added, “The details of the rescheduled dates will be sent to all the applicants through SMS. We will extend the validity of the existing Learning License (LL).” The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) order has directed work from home for government employees engaged in non-essential services in view of the rising COVID-19 cases in the city.

It has also directed appointment of nodal officers to check overcrowding in buses and metro trains. DDMA allowed buses and metro trains to run with full seating capacity to avoid crowding at bus stops and stations, but there is a ban on standing travel.
