New Delhi. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has made an important statement regarding the problem of Naxalism in India and claimed that this problem will be completely resolved in the next two to three years. Shah announced that, except for a small area of Chhattisgarh, the entire country is now free from this threat. Amit Shah said that there is no presence of Maoists in the so-called Naxal corridor extending from Pashupatinath to Tirupati. He said, “Naxalism is decreasing in the country. Earlier some people used to talk about the Naxal corridor from Pashupatinath to Tirupati. Now Jharkhand has become completely free from Naxalites. Bihar has become completely free. Odisha, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh are also completely free from this threat.”
Challenges in Chhattisgarh
Shah said though Chhattisgarh is not completely free of Naxal influence, significant progress is being made since the recent political change in the state. “In Chhattisgarh, the problem is still not completely solved, and Naxals are still active in some areas as the state has had a Congress government for the last five years. However, since the BJP government took power five months ago, efforts have begun to free Chhattisgarh from Naxalism.”

Recent successes against Naxalites
Highlighting the recent achievements, Shah said, “Since our government came to power in Chhattisgarh, around 125 Naxalites have been killed, over 352 have been arrested, and around 175 have surrendered. If we include today’s (May 25) figures, around 200 have surrendered. These numbers reflect the progress made in the last five months.” Shah concluded, “Within the next 2 to 3 years, the country will be free from the problem of Naxalism.”
