Bangalore. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair the BJP’s core committee meeting on Friday evening and is likely to finalize the cabinet expansion. The meeting will also discuss the evolving situation in the state in the backdrop of a series of developments in connection with the hijab controversy, ban on Muslim traders in temples and halal ban campaign. Shah arrived here on Thursday.
In the meeting, state party in-charge Arun Singh, national general secretary C.T. Ravi, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, State Party President Nalin Kumar Kateel and former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa will attend. With heavy political activities taking shape within the state BJP unit and assembly elections scheduled for 2023, the meeting assumes significance.
Before this, Amit Shah will participate in three big programs on Friday. He will participate in the guruvandan program and 115th birth anniversary celebrations of late Lingayat seer Shivakumara Swamiji of Siddaganga Mutt in the morning in Tumakuru. About four lakh people are expected to attend the programme.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai had made frequent visits to Tumakuru to oversee the arrangements. Yeddyurappa’s son B.Y. Vijayendra is posted at Siddaganga Math and is looking after the arrangements.
Later, Shah will attend the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the construction of the hospital at Muddanahalli village in Kolar district and will also attend a public function here.
Amit Shah will attend the Sahyog Sammelan to be held in the premises of Palace Ground, Bengaluru. He will inaugurate ‘Yashaswini’ health insurance scheme for the members of cooperative institutions. The scheme will cover 1.50 crore members including the co-operative sector and their family members and will provide cashless facilities for health issues in hospitals at par with private health insurance companies. Amit Shah will also launch Nandini Ksheera Abhivridhi Bank, the first milk bank of the state.
