The demand for electric vehicles is increasing all over the world, keeping in view the interest of customers, automakers are also constantly introducing new models. In this sequence, the Italian automotive design company Pininfarina, owned by the country’s leading automaker Mahindra, has now designed an attractive semi-truck with an electric powertrain and self-driving technology. Running on electric powertrain, no driver is required to operate this truck, this truck is equipped with driverless technology.
The truck was designed by the company’s Chinese studio, Pininfarina Shanghai and the semi-truck concept has been named the DeepWay Xingtu. Pininfarina claims that this autonomous semi-truck has a futuristic cabin with high-tech features and technology. For self-driving technology, technology like camera sensor and radar has been used in this truck, which makes it even better.

The company claims that this semi-truck also gets 11 onboard cameras, an infrared detector, five millimeter-wave radar and a LIDAR sensor. The truck uses Autonomous Driving Technology from Baidu, which is known for its Highway Intelligence System (HIS) tech. It is being told that this truck also offers long range.
Coming to the powertrain, it packs a 45-kWh capacity battery that offers a driving range of up to 300 km on a single charge. The most important thing is that this driving range can be covered with a total weight of 49 tonnes. Pininfarina claims that recharging the large battery is not a problem as the semi-truck comes with a quick-swap solution system, which can be changed in just 6 minutes. The Mahindra-owned Italian design firm is focusing on automotive segments other than just cars.
