Amravati. A shocking incident has come to light in Cuddapah district of Andhra Pradesh. Here a minor Dalit girl was gang-raped by a youth and his friends, due to which the girl became pregnant. The minor was living by begging near a temple in Proddatur town after the death of her mother.
A young man along with his friends was sexually abusing the girl for the last few months. The incident came to light when she became pregnant.
A woman constable recorded her statement after the locals informed the police.
It is alleged that the local police tried to hide the crime by not registering a case against the accused. The police has sent the victim to the ashram.
However, Kadapa district superintendent of police Amburajan on Thursday denied that there was a delay in registering the case. Four accused have been arrested after registering a case on Wednesday, he said.
Police investigation has revealed that about six months ago, two youths had gang-raped the girl. Four months ago she was sexually assaulted by two more youths.
The SP said that the girl has been sent for medical examination. Additional SP Pujita has been sent to Prodatur to investigate the matter.
Meanwhile, opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national general secretary Nara Lokesh called on Chief Minister Y.S. Slammed the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government for the gang rape of a Dalit girl in Jagan Mohan Reddy’s native Kadapa district.
He said, “Women’s police wing brought to light the gang rape and tried to do justice to the victim girl but all in vain. Lokesh has demanded the government to explain why the police officials did not register the case immediately. “
Instead of catching the accused, tried to hide the gang rape. He said that he silently shifted the girl to a private house in violation of the rules. Lokesh claimed that crores of rupees were spent on advertisements in the media to elevate Jagan Reddy’s image.
