Ranchi. The Jharkhand High Court, which itself took cognizance in the case of burning Ankita to death in Dumka, has made a strong comment on the state government. A bench of Chief Justice of the High Court Dr. Ravi Ranjan and Justice SN Prasad said that it seems that the rule of law is no more in Jharkhand. He orally said that criminals have no fear of administration and law. Describing Ankita’s murder as heinous, the court also commented that questions are also being raised on the action of the police in this case. Both the judges also criticized the statement of Dumka DSP Noor Mustafa, in which he had described Shahrukh, accused of killing Ankita, as a mental patient.
In the case of Ankita’s murder, the High Court directed the DGP of Jharkhand to provide security to her family members. The court has also sought information related to Ankita’s treatment from Hemant Soren’s government. The court has fixed the hearing again next week. The court itself asked the Advocate General of the state to present the DGP in the matter. Then came the DGP. He told the court that the main and another accused have been arrested and investigation is going on. The matter will be sent to the fast track court. The DGP said that justice will be provided to the victim’s family at any cost. On this, the court told the DGP that he would supervise the investigation of the police. The court clearly said that no effort was made to provide better treatment to the victim. He should have been given better treatment.
The court raised the question that why did the state government not send Ankita to a big hospital? Ankita, a minor of Dumka, was burnt alive on August 24 by a youth named Shahrukh by pouring petrol. Ankita was admitted to RIMS, Ranchi. There he died after 5 days. The Hemant Soren government remains the target in this matter. Because the CM was seen riding a boat with his MLAs during that time.
