There was a meeting of BJP leaders late night at the residence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi. Apart from BJP National President JP Nadda, Manipur’s caretaker CM N Biren Singh and Goa’s caretaker Chief Minister Pramod Sawant were present in this meeting.
Simultaneously, BJP’s National General Secretary (Organisation) BL Santosh had reached Amit Shah’s residence. It is being speculated from this meeting of BJP leaders that the party will soon announce the name of Chief Minister for Goa and Manipur.
In the recent assembly elections held in five states, BJP has won in four states. It includes UP, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur. Yogi Adityanath will become the Chief Minister in UP, but the situation regarding Goa, Manipur and Uttarakhand is not clear yet. Pramod Sawant is running at number one in Goa Chief Minister’s race. On the other hand in Manipur also N Biren Singh is leading the race. Both are also the caretaker chief ministers of their respective states at present.
In Manipur, N Biren Singh is definitely at number one in the Chief Minister’s race, but in the meantime another name Thongam Biswajit Singh has come into the limelight. Biswajit Singh is a BJP leader and has also been a minister. However, Biswajit has so far refused to comment on the matter.
The BJP has emerged as the single largest party in Goa, winning 20 of the 40 assembly seats in the state. The BJP, which won 50 per cent of the seats, needed 21 seats for a majority. However, independent legislators Chandrakant Shetye, Alexio Reginaldo Laurenso and Antonio Vaas have already declared their support for the party.
Apart from this, the party has also got support from MGP MLAs Ramkrishna Dhavalikar and Jeet Arolkar. Now it is to be seen whether BJP makes Pramod Sawant as the Chief Minister or if it comes out with a new face.
