Raipur (State Bureau).Anti Crime And Cyber Crime: Crime Branch will be formed again in three districts of Chhattisgarh State namely Raipur, Durg and Bilaspur. Its name will be Anti Crime and Cyber Crime (ACCU). The Home Department has issued its permission on Friday. Districts will have to arrange staff for this from the force available with them. The ACCU unit will work directly under the control of the Superintendent of Police (SP) under the supervision of the Inspector General (IG) of the Range.
According to police officers, the government has taken this decision to control the ever-increasing crimes in these districts. In the capital Raipur itself, there have been more than half a dozen incidents of knife pelting in the last few days. Organized crimes such as assault and theft have also increased. The same situation is also in Durg and Bilaspur. The number of cyber crimes is also increasing.
According to the officers, the staff in the police stations has the responsibility of investigating many types of cases. In the present system, the police stations take action within their limits, while the crime branch has the power to take action in the entire district. Its network also resides in the entire district. In such a situation, Crime Branch can prove to be more effective in controlling crimes.
Congress dissolved as soon as it came to power
When the Congress came to power, the Crime Branch and Special Intelligence Cell (SIU) of the police were active in 24 out of 26 districts of Chhattisgarh state. In major districts including the capital Raipur, its command was in the hands of officers of the rank of Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP).
In the rest of the districts, the Deputy Superintendent (DSP) was the head of the crime branch. Questions were constantly being raised about its working. In the name of crime control, the crime branch was facing many serious charges including extortion and extortion. In view of this, the crime branches of all the districts were dissolved on 28 December 2018.
