When a Scorpio car laden with gelatin sticks was found outside Ambani’s residence Antilia. Then Qazi, who worked with Sachin Waje, was posted in the Crime Intelligence Unit of the Mumbai Crime Branch. Qazi was arrested for his alleged role in destroying evidence related to the case. On March 1, Special Judge AT Wankhede rejected Qazi’s bail plea. Detailed information about this was made available on Friday.
The court, in its order, said that prima facie it appears that Qazi was aware of the motive of the conspiracy to keep the vehicle laden with gelatin sticks on Carmichael Road near Ambani’s residence. The order stated that the accused had collected DVRs and CPUs etc. to destroy the evidence at the behest of Waje.
It is worth noting that the constable Riyazuddin Qazi, who was arrested in the Antilia bomb case, has been charged with sections 120-B (favour to criminal conspiracy) and 201 (destruction of evidence of offence) of the IPC. Qazi’s role came to the fore after the arrest of Sachin Waje on March 13 last year. Other accused in the case include former encounter specialist Pradeep Sharma and former policemen Vinayak Shinde and Sunil Mane.
