Apple CEO Tim Cook on Friday said the company has recorded strong double-digit growth in India and set a new revenue record in the March quarter. Cook said that the main focus is being given to the Indian market. He said that Apple is working on the entire ecosystem from developers to markets and operations and he is very happy with the growth figures.
Fast growing business in India
On India’s contribution to the tech company’s second quarter earnings, he said that we (in India) recorded strong double-digit growth. We are very happy with this. This is a new revenue record for us in the March quarter. As you know, as I’ve said before. I see this as an incredibly exciting market and it’s where we’re primarily focusing. The Cupertino-based iPhone maker has posted record revenues in more than a dozen countries and territories. These include record March quarter revenues in India, Latin America and the Middle East, as well as Canada, Spain and Turkey.
Apple’s global revenue declined
On Apple’s India performance, Cook said the company’s operational work and various initiatives as well as market entry planning are ongoing. “We have opened a few stores in the last year and we see huge potential there,” he said. Announcing its financial results for the second quarter of fiscal 2024 ending in March, Apple said it recorded revenue of US$90.8 billion in the quarter, down four percent from the previous year. Apple follows the fiscal year from October 1 to September 28.
