Indian team’s dominance
There was a very exciting coordination between the three players of India and they played a one-sided match against the Turkish team in the final. Currently ranked World No. 1, Preneet Kaur, Aditi Swami and Jyothi Surekha Vennam defeated the Turkish challenge and won the gold medal without losing any chance. The final started very exciting. The Indian archers hit three Xs on the first three arrows, but lost one point each in the next three attempts. However, luck favored the second seeded Indian team and they won the first round by just one point.
The Indian trio dominated the second round as they shot five 10s and two Xs to take a four-point lead over their fifth-seeded opponents. Turkey showed great patience and determination in the final round and shot four 10s, including an X, to equal India’s total score of 58. However, India’s big lead eventually proved too much for Turkey as they failed to reduce the gap.
Two more gold medals expected
This is the third gold medal for the Indian trio in the Archery World Cup. India is hoping for two more medals in the current World Cup. Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Priyansh have to face their US rivals in the compound mixed team final, while Prathamesh Phuge needs one more win to win a medal in the compound category.
