In a new decision, the Himanta government of Assam has now fulfilled the promise made to government employees two years ago. The Assam government has decided to give an additional 2 days leave to all government employees at the beginning of the new year. The reason for this decision is to give time to government employees to spend time with their elderly parents.
After announcing that five colleges in the state would soon be upgraded to universities under the National New Education Policy, the Assam government on Wednesday approved a new decision. Under this decision, state government employees, including ministers, will have two days off on 6 and 7 January 2022, which if taken together on Saturday and Sunday (8 and 9 January 2022), will result in a total of four days off. The government wants government employees to spend time with their elderly parents and in-laws or take them for a walk. However, Himanta Sarma also said that the minister was not entitled to leave, but the government had allowed him to take some time off from work every day to spend time with his parents.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on this decision, “I will be very happy if all these officers take their blessings by spending a good time with their parents at the beginning of the new year so that after that they work well for the state also.” can do it.” Earlier, Assam CM Himanta, in a big announcement, had talked about upgrading five colleges in the state to universities under the National New Education Policy soon.
Let us inform that in the year 2018, Himanta Biswa Sarma in the then Sarbananda Sonowal government had announced on Independence Day that the government would give extra leave every year to all government employees, so that everyone could spend time with their elderly parents. Along with this, he had also said that 10% of their salary would be deducted if government employees fail to take care of their parents. This share will be given to their parents. Assam already has a special provision for this elderly parent. As per the Assam Employees Parent Responsibility and Norms for Accountability and Monitoring Act, 2017, it is mandatory for government employees to take care of disabled siblings along with their aging parents.
