ATK Mohun Bagan became champions by defeating Bengaluru FC, won 4-3 in the penalty shootout

New Delhi: In the final match of the Indian Super League (ISL), ATK Mohun Bagan defeated Bengaluru FC and won the title. Both the teams fought hard till the stipulated time. This is the reason that till the last time the match was tied at 2-2, after which the penalty shootout was resorted to. Penalty Shootout Mohun Bagan’s team was successful in scoring in the first four attempts. The Bangalore team missed in the third attempt.

In the last attempt, they desperately needed goals, but here too they were disappointed and the result of the shootout went 4-3 in favor of Bagan. With this, Bengaluru’s dream of winning the title for the second time was also shattered. On the other hand, the Atletico Kolkata franchise won the title for the first time after the addition of Mohun Bagan.

In the match played in Madgaon, Goa, Mohun Bagan took the lead in the 14th minute itself by Dimitri Petratos scoring a penalty. However, Bengaluru also got a penalty in the injury time of the first half and skipper Sunil Chhetri didn’t let the opportunity go by.

He scored a brilliant goal to make the score 1-1 at half time. Although in the 61st minute, Bagan once again had a great chance to score, but the team could not take advantage of it. Meanwhile, in the 78th minute, Roy Krishna put Bengaluru ahead by scoring a goal.

However, seven minutes later, Dimitri once again scored a penalty to equalize for Bagan. Eventually, the match ended in a 2-2 draw after regulation time, after which Mohun Bagan prevailed in the penalty shootout.
