Mumbai Police on Monday arrested four accused in connection with the attack on BJP leader Kirit Somaiya. It also includes Shiv Sena leader and former City Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar. On Saturday, when he had gone to Khar police station to meet MP Navneet Rana and MLA Ravi Rana, his car was attacked while returning.
The delegation led by Somaiya had reached to meet officials of the Union Home Ministry. The leaders also met Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai and Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla. After this these arrests have taken place. After the meeting, Kirit Somaiya had tweeted saying that Nityanand Rai has assured the BJP delegation that he will take necessary steps and take action against those who misuse power.
Somaiya had alleged that around 100 Shiv Sainiks attacked his vehicle and pelted stones. Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patel had confirmed that his vehicle was indeed stone pelted. He had said that a case has been registered and action will also be ensured.
Kirit Somaiya, who reached Delhi, had said that the Maharashtra government was misusing the police. He said that the Uddhav government is acting like a mafia and Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Pandey is also involved in this. He said, “Fake FIR has been registered against me. Please inform that an FIR was also registered against Kirit Somaiya’s driver. It is alleged that he was driving the vehicle wrongly.
