PM Modi said, ‘We will not accept any element that harms the friendly and strong India-Australia relations with their activities or views. Today Prime Minister Albanese has once again assured me that he will take strict action against such elements in future also. Several incidents of attacks on Hindu temples in Australia have come to the fore in the last few months. Khalistan supporters in Australia are continuously targeting Hindu temples.
Hindu temples attacked in Australia
In March, the Sri Lakshmi Narayan Temple, a prominent Hindu temple in Brisbane, was attacked by Khalistan supporters. This was the fourth incident of attack on temples in Australia in the last two months. Prior to the talks, PM Modi was given a ceremonial Guard of Honor at Admiralty House. A day earlier, PM Modi addressed the Indian community at a mega event in Sydney. Albanese was also present at the event held at Arena Stadium.
Albanese told PM Modi ‘boss’
Before PM Modi’s address, Albanese addressed him as ‘Boss’. In his address, Prime Minister Modi listed India’s achievements and mentioned the strong India-Australia relationship. He described the Indians living in Australia as the ‘cultural ambassadors’ of the country. PM Modi has also announced the opening of the Indian Consulate in Brisbane. In the talks held on Wednesday between the two leaders, a lot of emphasis was laid on increasing economic cooperation.
