At least five people were killed and six others injured in a collision between an auto rickshaw and a truck in Jharkhand’s Garhwa district. Police said the accident took place near Palhe village under Banshidhar Nagar police station area around 1.30 am on Thursday night. SHO Aditya Nayak said 12 people were travelling in an auto rickshaw to Nagar Untari railway station and were to board a train to Gujarat. On the way, their auto collided with a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction. He said the injured were admitted to a local hospital.
All the victims of the accident earn their livelihood by working as laborers outside their homes. All the victims were going to Gujarat to work as laborers. They had to go to Gujarat by boarding Jabalpur-Howrah Shaktipunj Express. That is why all the people were going to Shri Vanshidhar Railway Station. They had to look for employment in Jamnagar, Gujarat, but before that their vehicle met with an accident.
Auto falls off the bridge
The collision between the truck and the auto was so severe that after the collision, the auto rickshaw along with all the 12 passengers fell under the bridge. The people nearby pulled out the auto with the help of JCB and took the injured to the hospital. However, by then five people had died. The accident happened when these laborers left their village to board the train and were going to Shri Banshidhar Railway Station. This accident happened near the Shiva temple in Palhe village, in which five people died, while others were badly injured. All the people injured in the accident are being treated at Garhwa Sadar Hospital.
