There are three reasons why Maruti’s cars are selling the most. First, they are within your budget. Second, their mileage is higher than others. Thirdly, there is no cost in the name of maintenance. Due to these three reasons, the demand for Maruti cars is increasing rapidly. The effect of this is that this month the company has 3.25 customers car delivery padding. Of these, 1.30 lakh are CNG models of Maruti. It is obvious that the way the prices of petrol and diesel are setting new records, after that people are going towards CNG model. Most of the Maruti models are available in CNG. In such a situation, if you are planning to buy a Maruti car this month, then you may have to wait a long time for delivery.
In an interview to Autocar, the company’s senior ED Shashank Srivastava had told that the demand for Maruti’s CNG models has increased. CNG cars alone account for 17% of the entire portfolio sales of Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL). The company has several variants of the same model. Most of the customers go towards the base variant of the company. However, the variant of the CNG is much higher than the base. In such a situation, the company faces the challenge of production before the delivery of different variants.

Maruti has 9 CNG models available
Maruti is the largest car company in the country. In such a situation, it has the maximum number of CNG models. The company has a total of 15 models in the market, out of which 9 models come with factory fitted CNG kit. These include Alto, S-Pro (S-Presso), Celerio (Eeco), Dzire (Dzire), WagonR (Wagon R), Ertiga, among other models. Tour M and Tour H3 are available commercially. The company sold more than 1.20 lakh cars in April. In the financial year 2022, the sales of CNG cars have increased by 44% as compared to the previous year.

Sales of CNG cars increasing rapidly
The sales of Maruti’s CNG cars have seen tremendous growth in the last few years. Maruti has sold 76 thousand units in FY 2018, 1.05 lakh in FY 2019, 1.16 lakh units in FY 2020. The cost of CNG is lower than that of petrol and diesel. At the same time, its mileage is also high. Maruti’s CNG models give 10Km more mileage than petrol. This is the reason why people are now moving towards CNG fitted cars. In this they are also saving.
CNG prices also rising sharply
On one hand, the sale of CNG is increasing rapidly in the country, while its prices are increasing rapidly. Like crude oil, a significant percentage of CNG is imported into India as well. With the Russo-Ukraine war, the prices of other fuels, including CNG, have increased steadily. Last year itself, the price of CNG in Delhi was around Rs 53 per kg. It has now reached around Rs 71 per kg. That is, within a year, its price has increased by about 35%. In Mumbai, CNG is being sold for around Rs 76 a kg.
