Attacks on Hindu temples are increasing in Bangladesh. Violent mobs attacked separate temples in two villages of Naugaon district late on Monday night. At the time of the attack the temple of the goddess attacked damaged the idols of the deity. Communal tension has increased in the country after attacks on Hindu temples started just before Diwali and Kali Pujan. Earlier, even during Navratri, communal tension flared up in Bangladesh. Durga pandals were attacked in many cities.
On receiving information about the attack, Porsha Sub-District Officer Muhammad Najmul Hamid Raza reached the spot. He said that the investigation of those involved in the violent attack has been started. He claimed that in the past the entry of a deity into a Hindu temple in the region was a harmful event to become an idol of a deity.
The rioters also attacked and vandalized the ISKCON temple in Naukhali area on 15 October. The attackers beat up the devotees. The ISKCON temple tweeted that many devotees were injured in the attack. The mob also set the temple premises on fire. NavratriDuring the same period, several Durga pandals were attacked and vandalized in Bangladesh. Six people have died in the violence that erupted after the alleged insult to the Quran.
