Bhopal, Navdunia Representative. In Bhopal Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) located in the capital, the election of employees / labor organizations can be held in the month of April. At present, BHEL management is busy in meeting the production target till March 31. The production target is four thousand crores. BHEL management has given full strength in fulfilling this. The management has asked all the employees and officers to focus on meeting the production target first. Only then show interest in union elections.
Let us inform that there are seven different unions of employees and workers in BHEL. At present, the National Workers Congress, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, BHEL All India Employees Union are representative unions. Union elections are held for a term of five years. After completing the production target by March 31, the BHEL management can conduct union elections in April. Elections were to be held in the year 2021, but could not be held due to the outbreak of corona infection. For the past six months, the unions have been continuously demanding the BHEL management to hold elections. Corona has subsided now. With this, the management is contemplating to hold elections in April. If elections are held in April, new unions will come.
It is worth mentioning that unions are very effective in BHEL factory. Unions take up the problems related to BHEL employees, pressurizing the management to get fired. In elections, unions numbered one, two and three are made representative unions. The office bearers of the three representative unions are members of the canteen, security, medical, education committee of the BHEL factory. Whenever the management has to take any decision, the union officials are involved in the meetings. Without the consent of the unions, the management is not able to take decisions on time. Even if the management takes a unilateral decision, then the unions leave the work and get into the protest.
