New Delhi: Air India Express has taken major action against the employees who went on ‘sick leave’. Air India Express has fired some employees who were on ‘sick leave’ and has given them termination letters. However, information about how many employees have been given termination letters has not been revealed. In fact, on Tuesday, more than 200 cabin crew members of Air India had gone on mass sick leave, due to which more than 90 flights were canceled on Wednesday. It is being told that today i.e. on Thursday also Air India flights will operate less.
According to reports, Air India Express on Wednesday terminated the contracts of some senior cabin crew members who had reported ‘sickness’, causing disruption to the company’s flight operations. Referring to the reason behind firing the employees who did not report for duty, the airlines said that the concerned employees deliberately abstained from work without any proper reason. There doesn’t seem to be any reason for his disappearance just before take off. The company says that taking sick leave on a mass level is also a violation of the rules.
What reason did the company give in the termination letter?
In a dismissal letter sent to one of its employees, the airline said that just before take-off, a large number of airline crew members were reported ill. The letter said this clearly points to his deliberate absence just before work without any justified reason. The company said in its dismissal letter to its employees, ‘Your act is not only prejudicial to public interest, but has also caused embarrassment, serious reputational damage and serious monetary loss to the company.’
CEO of the company said – there will be further reduction in flights
Earlier, Air India Express Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Alok Singh said on Wednesday that the company will cut flights for the next few days to deal with the unavailability of crew members. The airline has had to cancel more than 90 flights due to crew members falling ill. Alok Singh said in a message to the airline’s employees that since Tuesday evening, more than 100 crew members have reported sick ahead of their scheduled flight duty. Due to this, operations are being seriously disrupted at the last moment. He said that due to this situation more than 90 flights have been disrupted.
The company flies 360 flights every day
Alok Singh said, ‘This situation is developing in the entire network. This forced us to cut back on flights for the next few days. We had to take this step to deal with the unavailability of crew members and to fix the flight schedule. Tata Group-owned Air India Express operates about 360 flights a day under the summer flight program that began in late March.
