After the approval of the cabinet, applications will be invited for 5G spectrum auction from next week.
Government will auction 600, 700, 800, 1,800, 2,100, 2,300 and 2,500 MHz band spectrum.
As per the recommendations of TRAI, spectrum will be given to the companies for 20 years.
-Shorter length ie 600, 700 and 800 MHz bands may cost more.
Companies will have to use indigenous technology to provide 5G service.
Airtel and Jio have already successfully tested 5G.
The government is expected to get 5 lakh crore revenue from 5G spectrum auction.
Using 5G, a movie can be downloaded in just a few seconds.
