New Delhi. Two players who performed brilliantly on debut in the Test series against England have received good news before the Indian Premier League 2024. India’s new batting star Sarfaraz Khan and wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel have been included in Group C of the BCCI (Indian Cricket Board) central contract with an annual retainership fee of Rs 1 crore. Both of them have fulfilled the criteria of playing three Tests in the current season.
The names of these two were approved during the BCCI Apex Council meeting held on Monday. There is a possibility of BCCI making changes in the calendar of Ranji Trophy for the next season. BCCI will not organize any matches in the northern part of India during the months of December and January as smog and poor light hamper the matches significantly.
Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel got a chance to debut during the Rajkot Test match against England. In the first match, Sarfaraz had scored half centuries in both the innings. Whereas Dhruv Jurel played an important role in helping the team win by scoring 90 in the first innings and half-century in the second innings in the Ranchi Test match.
The full domestic calendar will be announced later but the BCCI Apex Council discussed the tentative schedule for 2024-25 which was an important part of the eight-point agenda of the day’s meeting. A senior BCCI source told PTI, “No decision has been taken yet but the Ranji Trophy may start from mid or end of October after the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy like in previous years.” Some states lose important points in do-or-die matches due to bad weather.
