Gopalganj. Taking a big action against the smugglers of Ganja (a type of narcotic), the police have recovered three quintals of Ganja from Jadopur police station area of Gopalganj district of Bihar. The recovered ganja was kept hidden from Nagaland along with the ginger loaded in the truck. Two tractors, three bikes and 20 quintals of ginger have also been seized along with the truck.
A police officer said on Wednesday that a secret information was received that a large consignment of ganja is to be supplied on Tuesday night near Mangalpur bridge under Jadopur police station area. On the basis of this information, the police raided the said place on Tuesday night, from where three quintals of ganja was recovered.
The ganja was brought near the Mangalpur bridge of Jadopur police station, hidden among the ginger stuffed in the Nagaland registration number truck, and from here the smugglers had planned to send the ganja to different places by boat. The police raided and seized the truck.
Gopalganj (Sadar) Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sanjeev Kumar said that two tractors, three bikes and 20 quintals of ginger have been seized along with the truck. He said that during the raid, the police also arrested a smuggler.
The arrested smuggler has been identified as Manoj Rai, a resident of Chandpur village under Raghopur police station area of Vaishali district. The value of the seized ganja is said to be Rs 15 to 20 lakh. Police is interrogating the arrested smuggler and trying to find out from where the smugglers are connected with the ganja smuggling racket. A special police team has been formed to nab the smugglers.
