This case, which came to light in a private hospital located in Madipur, Muzaffarpur, made people think that how did this glass get into the patient’s stomach. The chief surgeon of the surgery team, Dr. Makhdulul Haque, said that the patient is a resident of Mahua in Vaishali district. Ultrasound and X-ray reports showed that the glass was stuck in the intestine and anus.
How the glass got into the patient’s stomach is still a mystery. On enquiry, the patient told that while drinking tea, he swallowed the glass. Although we do not agree with his statement because the human food pipe is so thin that it is impossible to go through a glass-like object.
Haq said that earlier we tried to remove the glass from the anus through endoscopic procedure but the attempt was unsuccessful. After this we took out the glass stuck in the stomach by making an incision. During this a piece of glass was also broken but it was also taken out. He said that the patient is stable now.
He told that a separate anus was also made for the patient to remove the glass stuck in the anus and intestine. The patient will still defecate through this anus for six to seven weeks. When the wound of the operation is completely healed, then the anus created by the operation again will be closed.
