Patna. Bihar government had decided to open cyber police stations in every district to control cyber crime. Cyber police station was also opened in the capital Patna, so that the people of the capital can be saved from incidents of cyber crime. But 70 percent of the cases registered in Patna Cyber Police Station in the last 11 months are pending. 1188 cases were registered in 11 months, but due to lack of IO, adequate action has not been taken. The reason behind this is also surprising which raises questions on the seriousness and working style of the police department in solving crime cases.
In fact, the IO has been entrusted with the responsibility of investigating the case as well as making charge sheets and arrests. An IO of cyber police station is under pressure of 70 to 80 cases. Apart from this, 10 to 12 cases of cyber fraud are being registered every day. Cyber police station in Patna was opened on June 9 in 2023 to crack down on cyber criminals. Till now the police of this police station has been able to arrest only 62 accused and notices have been sent to 125.
The biggest thing in this is that till now the police team of cyber station has not been able to take action against any big cyber gang. Here 70 percent of the cases have been registered under the IT Act. In a case in which the IT Act is imposed, the responsibility of investigating it is given to an Inspector rank officer. This is the reason why the pace of investigation is slow. Information has also been received that till now the cyber police station has not received chargesheet in only 70 cases. The most shocking fact is that till now no accused has been punished.
Let us tell you that the hearing of Patna Cyber Police Station is held in the court of SGM 4. Apart from this, the delay in investigation of the case is due to SIM and online accounts in fake names. However, shortage of officers as well as their not being computer friendly, delay in getting details of cyber criminals from Facebook Instagram Twitter WhatsApp, involvement of three states in one case are also the main reasons. Besides, the SIM being from somewhere else and the account being from somewhere else, the location of the vicious criminals being somewhere else is also a hindrance in the investigation of the case.
Now Patna Police has come up with a solution to reduce the burden of Patna Cyber Police Station. The case of the victim is being registered in the cyber police station, but the cyber police station officer is making the inspector posted in the victim’s respective police station its IO. It has also come to light that the police of cyber station is reluctant to register the case. The victim has to keep visiting the police station for three-four days. At present one DSP, 7 police inspectors, 6 sub-inspectors and 7 policemen are posted in this police station. There are many inspectors and sub-inspectors among them who are not internet and computer friendly. The question is, can cyber crime be controlled only by providing food?
