New Delhi. Today is the birth centenary of late Karpoori Thakur, former CM of Bihar. Karpoori Thakur was a big leader of extremely backward class. People still talk about his simplicity. Lok Sabha elections are likely to be held from March. Just before this, the announcement of awarding Bharat Ratna to Karpoori Thakur is also likely to change the electoral equation in Bihar. In fact, the population of backward and extremely backward classes in Bihar is 52 percent. Out of this, the extremely backward class is 35 percent. Nitish Kumar’s government had released these figures after the caste census. Accordingly, he had also announced to increase the reservation for extremely backward classes in Bihar from 18 to 25 percent. Now with the award of Bharat Ratna to Karpoori Thakur, BJP can claim that it has given real tribute to the leader of the people of Bihar.
Karpoori Thakur’s personality is so great that no one can oppose him being given Bharat Ratna. There is no opposition. JDU, RJD are saying that there was a delay in giving Bharat Ratna, but have also expressed happiness over the announcement of giving the country’s highest honor to Karpoori Thakur. CM Nitish Kumar has even thanked PM Narendra Modi for this by changing the post on Facebook. There is already a strong discussion in Bihar that Nitish Kumar may once again change sides and join BJP. Among them, the announcement of giving Bharat Ratna to Karpoori Thakur and Nitish thanking PM Modi on this has also become a reason for discussion.
In such a situation, everyone’s eyes are on what kind of electoral equation BJP will create with Karpoori Thakur in future. Actually, caste based politics has been taking place in Bihar. In such a situation, if BJP gets maximum votes of extremely backward and backward people in the Lok Sabha elections, then it can give a big blow to the Indian alliance in the state with 40 seats. BJP had won 17 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar in 2019. Whereas, JDU had won 16 seats.
