new Delhi. A BJP delegation will meet the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday evening to demand action against a Trinamool Congress MLA for allegedly threatening the party’s voters. Another BJP delegation will meet the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal in Kolkata.
BJP has alleged that before the Asansol Lok Sabha by-election, Trinamool MLA from Pandaveshwar Naren Chakraborty is seen openly threatening the voters and supporters of BJP.
Sources said a BJP delegation will meet the Chief Election Commissioner in Delhi at 5 pm and another delegation will meet the CEO in Kolkata in the evening.
“The BJP MPs from West Bengal will be part of a delegation that will meet the Chief Election Commissioner urging him to take action against Chakraborty for threatening BJP voters,” a party insider said.
Earlier in the day, West Bengal BJP co-in-charge Amit Malviya shared the video and tweeted, “TMC’s Pandaveshwar (Asansol) MLA Naren Chakraborty openly threatens BJP voters and supporters, asking them not to come out and vote.” They are seen saying, otherwise there will be consequences. Such criminals should be behind the bars, but Mamata Banerjee gives protection to them in Bengal. The Election Commission should pay attention.”
Rajya Sabha member and BJP’s national media in-charge Anil Baluni tweeted, “Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress MLA from Pandaveshwar, Naren Chakraborty is openly threatening the voters of Asansol at the press conference that if they vote for the BJP, they will lose their lives in Bengal.” It will be difficult to live.”
