In Haryana, the Bharatiya Janata Party is busy preparing for the 2024 Lok Sabha as well as the assembly elections. It is now reported that the party has shifted its focus towards the Jat community, which is considered important in the state. In the state elections held in the year 2019, the BJP had succeeded in forming the government, but the party could not get a majority. The BJP formed the government in collaboration with the Jannayak Janata Party.
According to a News18 report, the party is preparing a plan to woo the community. A senior BJP leader has said that the Jat community was isolated from a class party during the farmers’ agitation in 2020-21. It was told that the reason for this was the ‘misinformation’ given to him by the media against the party.
According to the report, party insiders say that wooing the community and not relying on the JJP is important for the BJP. In 2019, the BJP had secured 40 seats in the 90-seat Haryana Assembly.
The BJP leader said, “Our allies are representing a community, but they cannot stop us from our access to that community. We do not like to depend on allies to expand our vote bank. Government and party are two different systems.
According to the report, the party will start reaching out to the people on May 30. Ministers and leaders will reach among the people about the welfare schemes of the central government. The party has prepared a list of beneficiaries and will organize conferences to increase connectivity.
Apart from this, the political mercury has also increased in Haryana regarding Aam Aadmi Party activism. Will you become a cause of concern for the BJP in the state or not? To this the leader said, ‘No, although we will retain our Vaishya/Baniya and will not allow us to move towards you.’ BJP representatives are of the view that AAP may have an impact on the Bania community and it needs to be looked into, as it is the vote bank of the ruling party.
The BJP leader said, “We have to listen to our voters and their suggestions and not give lectures. They may get angry on some things and we have to listen to them and promise a solution. At the same time, the party is also focusing on those areas where it will get less votes from a particular community and there is scope for improvement. A senior BJP leader said that from Ambala to Karnal, the party got only a few votes from the Brahmin community. The party will work on such seats.
