New Delhi: The suspense that continued for several days regarding the candidate for Rae Bareli Lok Sabha seat of Uttar Pradesh has ended. Congress has announced to field Rahul Gandhi from Rae Bareli. This seat was earlier held by Rahul Gandhi’s mother Sonia Gandhi. As soon as the name of Rahul Gandhi was announced as the Congress candidate from Rae Bareli seat, BJP leaders gave their respective reactions on this issue. These leaders include Anurag Thakur, Keshav Prasad Maurya to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.
‘The people of Rae Bareli are ready to send back Rahul Gandhi’
On the candidature of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from Rae Bareli Lok Sabha seat, Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao said, “First Rahul Gandhi ran from Amethi and stopped at Wayanad, now his defeat in Wayanad is certain and he is coming to Rae Bareli knowing his defeat is certain. The public knows very well that these are people who do politics of self-interest instead of public interest, hence the people of Rae Bareli are ready to send back Rahul Gandhi.”
We will win both these seats with huge numbers: Keshav Prasad Maurya
On the Congress leader’s candidature from Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said, ‘Rahul Gandhi and the Gandhi family are not having the courage to contest elections from Amethi-Rae Bareli, but someone must have explained to him (Rahul Gandhi) that last time Sonia Gandhi had won by so many votes, so instead of going to Amethi, go to Rae Bareli. Rahul Gandhi is going to face a bigger defeat in Rae Bareli than in Amethi. We will not only win both these seats with huge numbers but will also win 80 out of 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh.
Coming to Rae Bareli fearing defeat from Wayanad: Mohan Yadav
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said, ‘The kind of atmosphere that has been created regarding the third innings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the reason why Congress was initially unable to decide what to do. Last time Rahul Gandhi ran towards Kerala after losing from Amethi. Now seeing the possibility of defeat from Wayanad, he came to Rae Bareli… The atmosphere in Uttar Pradesh has become Modi-like. We are also going to break the old record. The people of Rae Bareli are also waiting for him to give an account of whatever light things Congress has said about PM Modi.
Something is going on somewhere in the Congress party: Anurag Thakur
Meanwhile, on Rahul Gandhi’s candidature, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said in Dharamshala, ‘Till some time ago, Rahul Gandhi used to say, don’t be afraid. Now out of fear they are sometimes going from Amethi to Wayanad and sometimes from Wayanad to Rae Bareli. The fear is that both of them (Rahul Gandhi) may lose together. He could not even get justice for his sister. His sister’s (Priyanka Gandhi) name has not appeared anywhere in his list. This shows that somewhere something is going on in the Congress party.
Today Rahul Gandhi surrendered Amethi: Shehzad Poonawala
On Rahul Gandhi’s candidature from Rae Bareli, BJP’s national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala said, ‘Don’t be afraid, Rahul ji keeps saying don’t fight from Amethi…Today Rahul Gandhi surrendered Amethi. Today Rahul Gandhi is afraid of going to Amethi. Rahul Gandhi also knows that what his family could not do in 50 years, Smriti Irani, Yogi ji and Moji ji did for the people of Amethi in 5 years. That’s why the first family of Congress does not have the courage to go to Amethi.
Voting will be held in Amethi and Rae Bareli in the fifth phase on May 20.
