BMW India has finally entered the electric market of the country and this company has launched the IX Electric SUV in India. With an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.16 crore, this luxury electric car is going to compete with the likes of Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Jaguar in our market. These companies also sell fully electric SUVs in India. The new BMW IX, like other competing cars, is being completely imported in the country. The new e-SUV will compete with the Mercedes EQC, Audi e-tron and Jaguar I-Pace in the market. The IX is BMW’s first electric vehicle in the country to come under the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route. Built on an evolved electric-only architecture, the iX comes at the top of BMW’s range serving as the company’s ‘technology flagship’.
According to the information, BMW has introduced the new electric SUV IX in only 1 variant xDrive40 and it will be available for customers from April 2022. The 2021 BMW IX is built on an all-new architecture that uses an aluminum space-frame. Euro NCAP has given this electric SUV a full 5-star rating for safety. In terms of looks, the new car is built on the signature design language. It has been styled according to the EV which is quite modern. The car gets the signature kidney grille design, radar, cameras and sensors with intelligent driver assistance system.
A 76.6kWh battery pack is available with the new BMW IX. The xDrive 40 has a claimed driving range of up to 425 km. BMW is offering a 2.3kW, single-phase charger for the domestic socket and an 11kW AC wall box charger as introductory offerings, as standard. Using a 2.3kW charger, the battery can be charged from 0 to 100 percent in 36 hours. The iX also supports DC fast charging and can charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent in 73 minutes at 50kW capacity.
