In Gram Panchayat Badgran of Bharmour assembly constituency, two elderly people above 80 years of age have boycotted the elections and not cast their vote. When the Election Commission team reached the house, about 30 kilometers away from the Bharmour headquarters, to cast their vote, these elderly voters there refused to cast their vote, citing the Panchayat’s opinion and announcing a boycott of voting. According to the information, Gufi Devi, wife Mehtu Ram and Sodha have boycotted the elections, agreeing with the opinion of the new Panchayat. Let us tell you that Bharmour assembly constituency falls in Kangana Ranaut’s parliamentary constituency Mandi.
Why did the local Panchayat announce boycott of elections?
It is worth noting that in the Gram Panchayat Badgran of Bharmour, the local Panchayat residents had announced to the people to boycott the elections for the last several days due to non-construction of road and Palani bridge. He had also informed the administration and the concerned department about this. After this, the department also threw the material made for four truck bridges in the Palani drain. However, at that time people were hopeful that perhaps the work on this bridge would start now. But even after almost a month, people have once again accused the administration and the department of negligence in not starting the work due to dumping of bridge material in a few vehicles here.
The elders boycotted the elections citing this
People say that this kind of work has been done in the department to silence the local people. Therefore, people have once again decided in the Panchayat that the Lok Sabha elections to be held here on June 1 will be boycotted. In this series, when the Election Commission team reached there on Tuesday for senior citizens and disabled people to cast their votes, two elderly people there clearly refused to cast their votes. Referring to the Panchayat, he said that due to lack of roads and police, the Panchayat is of the opinion that this year’s Lok Sabha elections will be boycotted.
