New Delhi. The Election Commission has announced the dates for by-elections in the Lok Sabha seat of SP Patron Mulayam Singh Yadav, Mainpuri and Rampur, the assembly election seat of party’s strongman Azam Khan. Apart from these two seats, the Election Commission has also announced by-elections for 4 more seats. Voting on all these seats will be held on December 5 and counting of votes will be done on December 8. Mulayam Singh had died in the past after a long illness. At the same time, Azam Khan’s assembly membership was canceled after the court sentenced him to 3 years in the hate speech case.
Apart from Mainpuri and Rampur, the Election Commission has also decided to hold by-elections on the same date for Kurhani in Bihar, Sardarshahr in Rajasthan, Bhanupratappur in Chhattisgarh and Padampur in Odisha. Notification for the by-election will be issued on November 10. Candidates will be able to file nominations till November 17. November 21 has been fixed as the last date for withdrawal of nominations. VVPATs will also be installed along with EVMs in all these seats. In these seats, the people included in the voter list published on January 5 will be able to exercise their franchise. Model code of conduct has been implemented everywhere.
Talking about Mulayam Singh’s Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat and Azam Khan’s Rampur seat, SP will do everything possible to win again in both these places. At the same time, the ruling BJP in UP will try its best to get both these seats this time. UP BJP President Bhupendra Singh Choudhary had recently claimed that SP’s stronghold in Mainpuri and Rampur is now over and BJP will wave its flag in both these places in the by-elections. Now everyone’s eyes are on which candidates are fielded by SP President Akhilesh Yadav in Mainpuri and Rampur. It is believed that from Mainpuri, he can give a chance to Tej Pratap Yadav of his family. However, Akhilesh’s uncle Shivpal Singh has also expressed his willingness to contest from Mainpuri seat.
