India gave a big offer to Germany
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, during his meeting with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, has urged to explore investment in two Defense Industrial Corridors in UP and Tamil Nadu. Rajnath said that India has an army of skilled labor and it is also at an affordable rate. In such a situation, Germany’s investment and technology will be stronger here. He said that there is a need to take forward the common thinking on democracy and many international issues of both the countries.
Germany wants submarine contract
Significantly, Germany is keen to get the contract for 6 stealth diesel-electric submarines worth Rs 42,000 crore. These submarines will be equipped with cruise missiles and will be built in partnership with Defense Shipyard Manjgaon Dock or L&T Shipyard. However, India clarified its stand on this saying that it will be an open competition and for this the companies of TKMS, Navantia (Spain), and Daewoo (South Korea) are involved in the race for the Project 75 India Submarine Program. The date for submission of bids for securing this contract is August 1.
Germany’s Defense Minister Pistorius said that we are in talks to make 6 submarines from TKMS. Its process has not been completed yet. But I think German industry is in full swing for this.
India alerted Germany about China
In the meeting of the two leaders, India also mentioned China’s expansionist policies along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and the Indian Ocean as well as in the Pacific region. In the meeting, India also said that due to its local issues, Pakistan is completely sitting in China’s court at this time. Sources said that India also said that western countries should not trust Pakistan at all regarding defense technology as those technologies would be shared with China.
Rajnath Singh said that defense companies can partner with Germany’s defense industry in the supply chain. India also told Germany that unlike China and Pakistan, New Delhi is a responsible democracy. That’s why special attention needs to be given to India. India is also a reliable partner. On the Indo-Pacific issue, Pistorius said that his country is keen to partner with India.
