New Delhi. The Supreme Court on Monday refused to consider a plea seeking extension of the ‘internship cut-off’ for candidates appearing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) PG, scheduled for June 23 this year. Chief Justice (CJI) D.Y. Chandrachud and Justice J.B. The bench of Justice Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra, after listening to the arguments for some time, said that this cannot be considered.
CJI Chandrachud said, ‘I mean that when there is a “cut-off”, people are bound to favor a particular line.’ However, the bench allowed petitioner Riddhesh, a resident of Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, to speak to the competent authorities before whom representation in this regard had been made earlier.

Rejecting the petition, the bench said that these issues completely fall within the policy ambit. The current ‘cut-off’ date for internship for candidates appearing for NEET PG is 15th August.
NEET PG 2024 is scheduled to be held on June 23, 2024. The current cut-off date for internship is August 15, 2024. Earlier, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court demanding increase in the internship cut off for NEET-MDS. Responding to the petition, the Center informed the court in March that the cut-off for NEET MDS has been extended from March 31 to June 30.
