Kolkata. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a search operation in several areas on Friday in connection with the Sandeshkhali incident. The investigating agency has found a huge quantity of dangerous weapons from a house there. The agency has recovered 12 guns, 5 pistols and 128 bullets and many other weapons from a house. The Mamata government of the state has reached the Supreme Court against the investigation. There will be 29 hearings on the case. The person from whose house weapons have been recovered is a relative of TMC leader Hafizul Khan and is also said to be close to Shahjahan Shaikh.
The raid was conducted by CBI on the basis of secret information. A large number of weapons were found in a house there. According to sources, 12 guns, including foreign ones, 128 bullets and pistols have been found. All these weapons have been recovered from the house of a person named Abu Taleb of Sarbediya. There has been panic after this huge quantity of weapons was found, NSG team has been called on the spot. NSG is surrounding the entire area.
According to information received from sources, this search operation is related to the incident of attack on the Enforcement Directorate team by supporters of Trinamool Congress leader Shahjahan Sheikh. The ED team was attacked in Sandeshkhali on January 5 when it had gone to raid Shaikh’s premises in connection with the alleged ‘ration scam’. CBI had received secret information that a huge quantity of weapons were hidden in Sandeshkhali, after which the CBI team started a search operation on Friday morning and recovered weapons including a foreign made pistol.
At the same time, Mamata government of West Bengal has approached the Supreme Court on the Sandeshkhali issue. The government has filed a petition against the order of CBI investigation. The top court will hear this matter on April 29. Calcutta High Court had handed over the Sandeshkhali case to the CBI, giving a strong blow to the Mamata government.
