New Delhi. The Delhi High Court has granted 8 weeks’ notice to the Center on a representation seeking admission of women to the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA) and Air Force Academy of the Indian Armed Forces through the Combined Defense Services (CDS) examination. Have been asked to take decisions inside.
The court passed the order on the plea of Kush Kalra, who had filed a petition against him in the Indian Armed Forces’ Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA) and Air Force Academy and Officers Training Academy (OTA) by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The notification dated December 2023 inviting applications for recruitment was challenged.

In view of the petitioner’s representation on the issue still pending with the authorities, a bench of Acting Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Manmeet PS Arora said on Friday, “with directions to the respondent to take a decision on the representation in accordance with law within eight weeks.” The writ petition is disposed of.
The petitioner argued that the notification unfairly excluded women from appearing in the examination to be conducted for IMA, INA and IFA on gender grounds as it only allows them to be considered for Short Service Commission in OTAs. .
