New Delhi: Many states of the country including Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu are experiencing scorching heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for several states till April 20. In its latest forecast, the Meteorological Department said that heat wave conditions are likely to persist in parts of Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Konkan, Saurashtra, Kutch, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Telangana in the next five days. Heat wave will prevail at many places in Odisha on 18th and 19th April and in Gangetic West Bengal on 19th – 21st April.
Heat wave will prevail in these states
The Meteorological Department has issued a heat wave warning at isolated places in Gangetic West Bengal and Bihar on April 21, Jharkhand on April 19-21, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on April 18 and 19. Whereas in Central Maharashtra and Marathwada there will be heat wave on 18th April.
There will be severe heat in West Bengal
The weather agency said heat wave conditions will persist in South and North 24 Parganas, East and West Bardhaman, East and West Medinipur, Purulia, Jhargram, Birbhum, Murshidabad and Bankura districts of West Bengal till the end of this week. Let us tell you that heat wave occurs when the maximum temperature of any place is at least 40 degrees Celsius or more.
Chances of rain in these states including Delhi
While heat wave conditions will persist in some southern and eastern states this week, fresh rains in the northern states may provide relief from rising temperatures. The weather department has predicted scattered rain with thunderstorm, lightning and strong winds over many states like Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan from April 18-20. It is expected that Delhi-NCR will be partly cloudy and cold winds will blow on Thursday. There is a possibility of light rain with thunder and strong winds on April 19.
