The administration officials took this decision after a meeting with Chandigarh Administrator Banwarilal Purohit on Thursday evening. On behalf of the administration, it has been said that due to the strike of electricity workers, power supply was disrupted in GMCH-32 and GMSH-16 and other main areas of the city on the intervening night of February 21 and 22, causing inconvenience and inconvenience to the public.
Taking the deteriorating situation seriously, the administration has decided to take strict action. Disciplinary action will be taken against about 126 regular employees of the electricity department for disrupting power supply. An FIR has also been ordered against him under the ESMA Act.
Services of 17 contractual employees for disrupting the power supply and causing damage to the power system have also been terminated for defying the orders of the Chandigarh Administration. Along with this, an FIR has also been registered against these employees for violating the ESMA Act. A committee of expert members has been constituted to ascertain the extent and other details of the damage caused to the power system, which will submit the report in 15 days.
