There has been news of a poison attack on the Russian owner of the legendary European football club Chelsea FC. Chelsea boss Roman Abramovich suffered a suspected poison attack with Ukrainian peace negotiators earlier this month.
Roman Abramovich was reportedly poisoned a few weeks ago after a meeting in Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, reports the Wall Street Journal. He was working as a ‘peacemaker’ in the midst of the ongoing Russian war in Ukraine.
Strange symptoms seen in three people
According to the Daily Mail, after the meeting in Kyiv, Abramovich as well as two senior members of the Ukrainian team showed some strange symptoms, including red eyes, body aches, as well as exfoliation of the skin on their face and hands. .
Analysts at Bellingcat confirmed that three members of the delegation, including Abramovich, who attended peace talks between Ukraine and Russia on March 3, experienced “symptoms of chemical weapons poisoning”.
Investigative news site Bellingcat said Abramovich, another Russian entrepreneur and Ukrainian lawmaker Rustam Umerov were taking part in the talks. This conversation went on till 10 pm.
Who is behind the poisonous attack?
Three members of the delegation later left the talks that night and moved to an apartment in Kyiv. But when they woke up in the morning all were suffering from swelling of the eyes and skin and unbearable pain in the eyes. Sources told the Wall Street Journal they blamed the suspected poison attack on extremists sitting in Moscow who wanted to ruin talks to end the war.
Chelsea FC owner close to Putin but why angry?
The owner of Chelsea FC is reportedly flying his jet between Istanbul, Moscow and Kyiv to exchange messages between Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky. But Putin reportedly erupted in anger when he was said to have handed over a note from Ukraine’s president showing peace terms. In fact, Abramovich is trying to avoid possible sanctions due to Britain and the European Union’s close ties to Putin.
Abramovich’s assets have been confiscated across Britain and the continent and he has begun the process of selling his London assets as well as Chelsea Football Club. But their yachts and jets, which are worth millions of pounds, are currently out of this ban.
